Learning Objectives of This Section

This section describes requirements for protecting your health and safety, and the Animal Users listed on your protocols and animals used on your research projects.

Upon successful completion of this section of the course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the Animal Exposure Surveillance Program (AESP), including its function and requirements
  • Identify appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for working with various animal species to ensure personal and animal safety
  • Describe required security precautions and explain the rationale for those precautions
